Ice Hotel!

I was reading a book about unusual hotels, and came to this one: Icehotel, a hotel built entirely of snow and ice in the Swedish Arctic. It's sculpted by artists every winter, and in the spring is allowed to melt away again. The insulating snow keeps the rooms at a balmy -5 degrees C. no matter how cold it gets outside (and it gets a lot colder!)

I think it's pretty obvious what the appeal of Icehotel is for me (click on pictures for the room's web page):

(the one above is probably my favorite, not only for its look but because it's named the "Yin/Yang Suite").

So whatta ya say?  Superman Fan Conference at the Icehotel in 2011?  :D

What memories your post has brought back! I have stayed overnight in the Ice Hotel in Quebec City - where it is of course called the Hôtel de Glace (http://www.icehotel-canada.com/). It is not an experience I will soon forget, especially sleeping on those animal-skin covered ice beds! I was okay, up until the point that I had to get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night...

You beat me to it - I was just going to mention our Hôtel De Glace! :) I've never stayed there, but I have visited and it's quite a sight all right! :D

It's further away from the Arctic circle, though... ;) But hey, we have maple syrup. *lol*

Maple syrup does help make up for less chance of seeing the Northern Lights... :)

*fangirls you* There's one in Canada too, wow! That's much closer to a possible destination, hmmm... :)

Incredible stuff, thanks for sharing the Canadian link too! I'm amazed at human beings right now...
