--Is there a trope you’ve yet to try your hand at, but really want to?

I would like to try the trope of POSTING THE OPEN THREAD ON TIME, DAMN IT. *deep breaths* Ahem. I think the only "trope" I've wanted to tackle and haven't is an Age of Sail AU (is that a trope? More or less...) Everything else I love I have generally written, often in more than one fandom...

Writing hasn't happened this week because I've been at a wedding and visiting friends, but I promised myself I'd have all Monday to write because my sister would be at work and my nieces in school so I'd have no choice and it's Labor Day and so that's a no-go, dannnng. I mean, time with my family is rare and valuable and I'm not going to pass it up, but alas! My writing! I hope things have been better for all of you...

Ages ago I got an idea using the trope of characters being turned into children and one of them having to babysit - never did write it. It involved a child eating fairy tale monster and lots of the little ones being cute.

I eat up cutesy fanfiction/filler episode tropes like crazy and my writing would be nothing but that if I allowed it

"Deaged" was, I think, the very first trope I ever wrote with DC! It doesn't hurt that it was based on canon. :) Sex pollen was probably the second... :)

I have no idea why everything I'm writing is so plotty right now, since I love me some cute fluffy filler. *sigh* Well, I do love the challenge of a plot as well, but still...

Good luck on reclaiming your writing time! My mom is visiting for the holiday so I totally know what you're feeling. I'm still writing, just half my normal speed and very scattered moments. I've only gotten about 500 words today but the rest of the week went well. Here's hoping I manage at least a little writing over the rest of the weekend. (Don't expect to manage it)

Tropes, hmm, I think the only trope I haven't really done much with is time travel. I've only got one time travel fic. It's fascinating but I've never managed to wrap my head around how to write it.

Ha, I can happily report that I've now gotten more writing done in September than I did in August! :) Finished a couple of chapters and am poised at the precipice of a scene I've been looking forward to writing for probably years and now am having qualms about. Has that ever happened to you?

I've written I think two now, and each time I get into squabbles with my beta, who has Very Strong Opinions about time travel physics and they tend to mess up what I need to have happen in a story. :)
