Theoden sweet talking a camel is the greatest thing I have ever read.
You just know he'd be like "YOU ARE PRETTY CLOSE TO A HORSE AND YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL."
The handkerchiefs--I suspect they came from that discussion of the Lube of the Lonely Mountain and the elvish tendency to turn even the most mundane things into epic tales, but it just kind of sneaked up on me and I couldn't resist leaving it in. Also, I am truly legit impressed on spelling that right on the first try--that and "Themyscira" (which I just failed to spell right on the first try) are my banes...
I am saddened to confess that Bilbo isn't in the next chapter at all, noooo. I really wanted him to come along, and then realized that I just couldn't justify it, it would be suicide. But they'll be back together the chapter after that!
