They are, in fact, canon! :D They're only mentioned briefly, but the Bounders go around checking for trouble. They...don't have much to do right now in canon...

I love the idea of the hobbits actually being rather charmed by the dwarves (if they are on their bestest behavior, which they mostly are!)
And... oh dear. Do we have another room left for Thorin? Why yes. It's not proper under normal circumstances, but these aren't normal circumstances and... *wrings hands* Thorin will have to sleep in Bilbo's room. Won't he? WON'T HE???????!!!!!!
Of course he does! OF COURSE. They're both pretty happy about this arrangement...
Oh, Balin the charmer. That was unexpected. Lovely!
My mental Balin was like "Oh, let me show you my moves with the ladies." :D A courtly dwarf is a wonderful thing!

I can't see the movie until the 18th, so we shall suffer together! I've stepped off of Tumblr and Twitter entirely and am focusing on writing and trying to stay caught up with comments... :)
