Today is still sunny and sweltering here, so I'm looking forward to the cool fall days that match this story a bit! I actually have this whole story planned out on a calendar, and it runs through the fall--right now is when the party is at Himring, searching for the glass.
Until now he has been coming across as pretty immature but I am glad you are showing us some self-awareness and introspection.
I was really tickled when I realized this story made it possible for Fili to finally step up and have a bit of character development!
I think the first time round I didn't fully grasp the implications of this line. Thorin knew he was risking the glass by shooting the goblin. OMG he knew and he did it anyway! *thud*

Oh this tenderness breaks me. The backstory implicit in this...nyargh.
Balin, Balinnnnn. He doesn't get enough screen time from here on for a while (Thorin and Fili step up too much!) but I adore him so much...
