I really liked that line, somehow--just the feeling that things that really should be important can't be anymore, and it's obviously having a toll on him. Lois, Alfred and Gordon, each in their own ways, get to watch with more or less comprehension as things go on, which I found interesting to write.
Heh, I just tried to post the next chapter and Google Docs is being a bitch, so I have to wait until I get to my home computer to give it another try. But I'm hoping the next part will be up before you read this comment!
