It's a very bat like thing to do - maybe Bruce has had a bigger impact on him than he realises. And Clark has had a big impact on Bruce.
It's interesting--this tends to happen when I write movieverse. Bruce has had three people he's trusted completely with his secret--four if you count Jim, who I think Bruce would trust with it if it weren't dangerous for Jim. Clark, on the other hand...in the movies the only person he's ever told his secret is Lois, and then he took it back. Only his mother even knows both sides of his life at all. So my movieverse Clark is a lot more isolated and paranoid, and movieverse Bruce a lot more grounded and trusting. They sort of come together in the middle.
And oh, I'm glad you caught that line you quoted--it killed me too, how sure he is. *pets him*
