Honestly, it's really not Marvel's fault that s_d got shut down. I'm sure they knew about it and were happy to turn a blind eye, but once it was brought to their attention in an official capacity, they were obligated to take action as it would set precedent for future copyright violation cases and blah blah blah.
I know a lot of people are upset, but I have to say that I'm pretty ambivalent. I left s_d some time ago because it turned in to a never-ending bitch fest that I found depressing. Also, I'm not worried about the scans I occasionally post on my own journal because, like, three people read it. As for people leaving en masse, I'm guessing this will blow over the same way all of the other Crises on Infinite Live Journals did.
Finally, I like to imagine that Marvel's legal department consists of She-Hulk and Daredevil, the two most prominent MU lawyers.
