It's headcanon, but I hope it's pretty heavily implied. *grin* Denethor needs at least two, and possibly three, people to keep him in line!

Here's where I confess that saving Boromir was always one of the goals of this whole story, lol! I had people asking me why the gap between the two parts was so horrifically long (poor Bilbo!) and I had plotty reasons, but the real reason was I had to make sure Theoden and Denethor and Aragorn could all be there, just so Denethor could get his act together and Boromir could have a happy life. *wipes brow*
