Hearts seem to be a theme
Awww bless the dwarves and their literal-mindedness. Although, at this point I suspect Thorin has his suspicions but vehemently refuses to think about them.

"We are not grave-robbers or vandals," he said. "We seek an artifact that will save a kingdom. Everything else we leave as we found it."
It must be so hard for them to leave all this behind what with their keen appreciation for craftsmanship. I bet they'd like to study the things at home and get inspiration from them or discover a new technique or two... I'd quite like to visit Himring myself if I'm honest.

"Besides, laddie, who knows what elvish curses may lurk on such items?"
I was waiting for something like this...

He roared with laughter as Kíli dropped the diadem like a poisonous snake.
LOL!

"I miss your meals," said Fíli, sitting down next to him and unwrapping his own rations.

"I do too," said Bilbo.

Awwww. Such a lovely moment.

"Did you just say my cooking was exquisite?"

"I said no such thing!"

SUPERFLAIL! Thorin finally said it!

He wasn't good at impassivity, he thought grouchily.

But then, he'd never really needed it before meeting Thorin.

Oh Bilbo, never change sweetie. It must be exhausting at times to modify his behaviour all the time...ah well, cultural acclimatization...

The marble walls gleamed with threads of gold

This sounds so lovely!

Bilbo dragged a stone stool over to stand on

o_O Wow. He has gotten strong, hasn't he?

"This does make it...clear..."

I had to read this three times to get it. I blame the late hour...

Thorin touched the stones with a finger and Bilbo realized it was shaking almost imperceptibly.

I am so happy for Thorin!

Without warning he stepped forward and wrapped his arms around Bilbo, pulling him into an embrace. Startled, Bilbo almost pulled away, but then stopped and made himself relax into the hug. It felt...good, encircled by Thorin's arms. Bilbo could smell leather and salt; he closed his eyes and put his arms around Thorin in turn without thinking.

*high pitched noise*

"I was saving them for a celebration, and this seems like a good time, doesn't it?" He touched the lemon drops and the viola tea lightly, reassuring himself that they were still there.

Perfectly Hobbit-ish behaviour

"You honor us with your butterscotch biscuits, Master Halfling,"

Oh God, :-DDDD

feeling content and nervous at once, somehow.

Oh Bilbo... the signs of love, *sigh*

"They have memories that stretch beyond our ken, and they can be fell and dangerous foes."

Well, the first is certainly true.

the history of Himring would have to be recited and the various conflicting prophecies about this glass discussed at length. There would be a great deal of interminable poetry and melancholy song,

It shouldn't be funny, since Thorin is quite serious but I can't help laugh at this.

He looked at Bilbo, his expression caught strangely between commanding and pleading. "And I need your understanding, Bilbo."

*clutches chest*

"I don't want to be! I wish I'd never followed you, I wish I'd never learned Khuzdul, and I--and I wish I'd never shared my butterscotch biscuits with you!" he finished in a rage.
Oh my. That was too much apparently. I have to keep reminding myself that this Bilbo hasn't met any orcs yet, nor any spiders in Mirkwood or trolls. Though there were the wolves and the wights...

It is sad to see the chapter end on such a note but I'm sure you'll make it right in no time at all. :-)
