he seems, well, very used to doing as Sherlock says without question.
I think it worked beautifully and you showed how surprised he was himself that he drifted down so quickly. I thought it entirely plausible.

Yes, that one got me right in the chest. Imagining Sherlock desperately trying to prevent himself from messing up...is just so. FEEEEEELS *g*
