It really does not do a lot for me either! I prefer Clark (and Diana) being attracted to "mere" mortals when possible...having them prefer similarly godlike beings seems to distance them from humanity for me. I think it could be done more convincingly, but I admit I don't think Johns's writing is doing Diana any favors...
