Rare Male Slash Exchange Letter!
Dear Rare Male Slash Writer: Hello and thank you so much in advance for being willing to pick up one of my various rasslin-based prompts!
A list of narrative things I love includes: identity play (Ibushi, Vampiro, and Finn all have alter egos you can play with!); fluffiness where you’d least expect it; regrets and reconciliation; amnesia; enemies being forced to work together; sad stories that somehow manage to end happily. I’d prefer if fic remain kayfabe-compliant--that is, the wrestlers don’t know how matches are going to go.
I’m perfectly happy with a G or PG romantic fic, or with a PG-13 fade to black story! But if you do decide to go NC-17, things I particularly enjoy include any variety of dubcon (sex pollen, magic rituals, forced into it by an enemy); D/s dynamics where the sub is either very into it or starts reluctant and gets into it; oral sex; handjobs; fealty and praise kink; masturbation; any kind of getting off without actual contact--via voice, phone sex, telepathy, magic, what have you. Cruelty is a turn-off, but people expecting cruelty and getting affection (whether D/s or not) is very nice.
Big DNWs include infidelity (please just assume this is a world in which Johnny, Tommaso, or Kevin never got married); rape and non-con; anything where one person is humiliated or treated cruelly and doesn't enjoy it.
Lucha Underground: Vampiro/Matt Stryker; Jack Evans/Johnny Mundo/PJ Black
Vampiro/Matt: These two have really grown on me, with their weird banter and bizarre brotherhood. They both love the Temple so much and I would love to see them have a chance of defending it together. I’m also very here for Matt having a hard time with the Ian/Vampiro dichotomy and maybe refusing to believe Vampiro is truly a master of dark magic until Vampiro proves it to him (probably sexily? With sex magick? Or sexy vampire hijinks?) Matt trying to help “Ian” and discovering maybe Ian doesn’t want to be helped (and that’s okay) would be nice.
Jack Evans/Johnny Mundo/PJ Black: Uhhh, I really like the idea of PJ and Jack as subs competing for the attention of a vain and demanding Johnny. Maybe performing together sexually for his enjoyment? Or PJ helping Johnny to dom Jack? I’m sure they could think of some ways to keep Jack’s newly-healed motormouth busy… Bickering and competition but overall a positive relationship would be great.
New Japan Pro Wrestling: Kota Ibushi/Kenny Omega
Anything that brings these soulmates separated by betrayal and time back together is good with me! Some ideas: something set when Kenny first comes to Japan, young and already smitten with the crazy young wrestler he saw on tape; fic where Kenny feels it necessary to submit sexually to Kota to deal with his regrets; any sort of romantic reconciliation at all would be great. Play with the idea of them being actual soulmates? (Wrestling is one of the few canons I can accept soulmates in because it’s so close to canon!) Don't worry that I'll call you on any details about their background: I'm not a big DDT Pro person, so pretty much all I know is 1. Kenny came to Japan because he saw a tape of Kota wrestling and knew they were fated to be together, 2. Kenny cost Kota the win in his big match NJPW against AJ Styles and they haven't interacted since. Everything else is up to you!
Ring of Honor: Dalton Castle and his Boys
Okay, I confess, I know almost nothing about Dalton and the Boys except what I’ve seen in gifsets and clips, but boy oh boy do I like the aesthetic. I love the idea of Dalton being a cheerfully dehumanizing dom and the boys as happy furniture/ornamentation, getting off on service. Anything PWP, or maybe an origin story for the Boys--how did Dalton recruit them and initiate them into, uh, Boyhood? What's daily life like as a Boy? Technically they have names but I kind of headcanon that they’ve pretty much forgotten them at this point and just think of themselves as Boy 1 and Boy 2.
World Wrestling Entertainment: Johnny Gargano/Tommaso Ciampa; Drew Gulak/Mustafa Ali; Kevin Owens/Finn Balor
Johnny/Tommaso: I’ve shed tears over these men, and I just want them back together. Tommaso, Johnny would never have abandoned you! And I refuse to believe that Johnny couldn’t get past it somehow, knowing the betrayal was rooted in panic and insecurity rather than hatred. Any kind of reconciliation would be wonderful, though feel free to drown me in angst before any eventual happy ending. Does Johnny reluctantly go out and find another partner (to get over Tommaso? To try and get revenge?) Do they end up clashing over the men’s title? Feel free to fantasy-book the rest of their feud while Tommaso is rehabbing!
Drew/Mustafa: Anything dealing with Drew’s obvious massive crush on Mustafa’s beautiful flippiness would be great. In general I know this isn’t a popular trope, but I’d be quite happy with a story where Drew is dealing with a lot of internalized homophobia and just can’t accept that the reason he wants Mustafa grounded is so he can keep his arms around him. Either way, he's clearly in a LOT of denial and needs a kick in the ass (maybe literally) to realize what's motivating him. Maybe oddly, considering how violent and awful their relationship is in canon, I would prefer if Drew is actually more romantically smitten than sexually obsessed.
Kevin/Finn: Finn’s 24 special left me really wanting to see these two together in fic. Like Drew/Mustafa, I’m taken with the idea that Kevin’s love for Finn is surprisingly pure and fluffy. I can easily imagine everyone (including Finn) assuming that Kevin would be obsessed with the Demon, but it turns out that no, he just wants to make Legos and go to the zoo and have romantic warm cuddly sex with Finn. (I feel a little guilty asking this, but Sami/Kevin is technically my OTP and I hate to see them “broken up,” so it might be best to be on the safe side and not put Sami into the story at all, even though I know he’d have Opinions about this situation). Set it during Finn’s rehab, or have them meet up now--I can easily imagine that being on different brands means Finn’s not a “threat” to Kevin and he can chill out a bit.
