Good point about male emotional narratives being so...stunted, sometimes, yet with a weird promise of depth somehow if you could only access it.

CHARLOTTE IS AMAZING. Her father was there when she won and they were both in tears, you know how it is the first time a wrestler wins a big title, it legitimately means so much. There was another great match against Bret Hart's niece and Bret and Ric were both there--and you know what the really magical thing was? It did not become all about a confrontation between the two dudes at all. I was absolutely shocked by that.

To give Tolkien credit (?), most of his male characters (especially in the Silmarillion) are also defined by their family ties and their suffering! :)
