Aww, Jen, this was so sweet and awesome! I love stories where Clark and Bruce meet up at a young age, and this was perfect. They were both so adorable here. Jo was great with her shy befriending of Bruce and little character quirks like spinning around on the stool. And I loved your take on "Superboy" here. If Clark did operate as a superhero before leaving home, I always imagine it would be this way (starting because he could hear people in trouble and trying to keep it secret).
And this line:
"But I discovered if I just wore regular clothes the air friction tended to cut them to ribbons when I went too fast and I'd arrive totally naked."
*sporfle* Oh god, poor Jo! And that would be so much worse for a girl than a guy ... O_o What a convincing argument for the costume! =P
And there were so many other little details like that that I loved (like Jo's name still being Clark Joseph Kent! LOL!)
And Bruce!! Loved him climbing up the ivy and quoting Romeo & Juliet at Jo. He never does anything halfway, not even romantic teen courtship, does he? :D And poor him, inadvertantly ending up as the accomplice of the same kind of man who killed his parents. D: Glad he got to punch the dude at least.
The little Rosencrantz and Guildenstern debate they had in class was brilliant, too. You always do such a great job of capturing their differing ideologies in the most unexpected ways. ^-^
Yayy, gender-bender sort-of-pre-capes fic!! This was delightful. *adds to the chorus of happy sighs*
