I found this fun at first, then intensley angsty (even though I'd read the original) and then the very end part was hilarious. 'Confirmed bachelor John Watson' coming out of the closet made me smile.
Sherlock felt very in character to the BBC version: manipulative, charming, and surprisingly caring in his own emotionally repressed way. And John's gruff, reluctant caring over bone-deep loyalty was also very true to the canon.
The subtle way they get abck together at the end and possibly even start to move forward was also so emotionally satisfying. Much as I love the grand, overblown romance novel endings to some stories, I also feel that this sort of quiet resolution, with actions speaking louder than words, is more likely.
Thank you for sharing the story you wrote with me. I appreciate the gift you have offered me, because I always love peaking into your creative process.
