This is just as funny as the German equivalents: Schnickschnack and Firlefanz. Lovely word, I didn't know it before.
Now I want to use Schnickschnack in conversation here. :) Folderol and balderdash are good English terms!
I had so much (somewhat malicious) fun writing Fili and Kili's story, and Bilbo's slow realization of what the reality of the situation was...

Gahh, isn't he wonderful? I can always count on him to take action and take care of his people, and I love it.

Can't you just see them? On nice thick beige paper with curly script? Awwww.
I feel for Bilbo, feeling so unimportant in this big affair of dwarves... hopefully that will change soon.
It will! *bounces* And you've seen he very quickly gets reassured that everyone (even Thorin, maybe possibly definitely) likes having him around...
