Usually I am typing my comment as I'm reading but today I had to stop at the second scene and sketch an idea for an illustration...

Well, I am hardly going to complain about this! *huge grin* Also, hoooo, Thorin's forearms. *facepalm* How can we see so very little of his skin and manage to fixate on the tiny bit we can see?

But then again talking about the possibility of his own death like it's nothing (the mission is all that matters..continue the mission......BATMAN).

Man, these Batman-types, I love them so much! It's true, the Mission is what matters--but I'm glad you noticed the little things here and there that keep him from being TOO awful, like making sure Bilbo is safe even after threatening to leave him to the skeletons...

The next library is my favorite! (Yes, they end up in like four or five different ruins in this story, so I get to have favorites) Much more quiet and lovely, with a lot more space for actual conversation... *grins*

Do you mean dreadful foe or am I misunderstanding something?

Ahhh, "dread" has an older adjective form which means basically the same as dreadful, a little more formal and archaic-sounding. We use it mostly in set phrases like "a dread disease" nowadays, but it sounded kind of Throrin-esque, especially when he's feeling a little embarrassed that he insulted his nephew...
