*insert fangirl squee* Have I ever mentioned that having fic to read in the morning, with my first coffee, is quite possibly the thing that makes me the happiest? ...yes, I do lead a sad life, I realize, but still. Also, I'm selfish and I pretend you make it on purpose to post so I'll be at my desk - having my first coffee - when I see the entry.
Okay... off to read, and commenting as I go. :D
after a couple of visits Kal realized he wasn't just making small talk but carefully eliciting information about the plantations and their overseers from the people.
*giggles* I think "Clark" has a lot to learn about Bruce still. Bruce never wastes time doing anything, there's always a purpose. :)
*giggles more* And he remembers all of the data he's exposed to? Oh, Bruce how I love you. :) He doesn't have the luxury of a super-computer and a highly effective database system, so he became his own... Brilliant and resourceful. How can you not love that? If this man hadn't been a slave, he would have made a magnificent leader. Still kinda does, in a way, but...you know what I mean. ;)
These little details--the way Bruce unfailingly treated him like Clark, like a fellow human--they made him happier than they probably should.
Awwww! Good of Bruce for keeping up appearances even when there's not really a need to (they're alone, in the middle of nowhere), because it'll probably help them both act naturally about it when they're with others. And it makes Kal feel less...I wanna say alien, but that kinda sounds stupid *lol*...less different, more "a part of this" - and I think it's soooo sweet that Kal finds a bit of happiness in that. *hugs him*
why had Kal never noticed how strong and rank the scent of their pollen was?
Betcha because the scent is actually not the same now... I think Bruce needs to give Kal a "Detective 101" crash course. *lol*
"The overseer calls himself Scarecrow."
hehe! No wonder that poor man looked like he was out of his mind!
Looking forward to Bruce and Kal meeting Scarecrow. Hopefully the good guys come out of this with both their heads still screwed on right. ;)
Thanks for brightening my Monday morning, Jen! :D (I'd say I should get back to work now, but none of my team is here and I'm perfectly useless, so I'll go groom a few bunnies instead. lol!)
